Experienced leadership, familiar teammates and big-time college basketball fans, we are proud to once again bring together members of our organizing committee and local partners for “One Shining Moment” in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Local Organizing Committee includes longtime partners that have helped make San Antonio one of the most popular sports destinations in the country. “Team San Antonio” is comprised of the City of San Antonio, San Antonio Sports and host institution, University of Texas at San Antonio.

The UTSA Intercollegiate Athletics Department sponsors 15 sports at the NCAA Division I level as a member of Conference USA. Under the direction of Athletic Director Lynn Hickey, a former member of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, UTSA has served as host institution for 15 NCAA Championship events since 1997, including five Final Fours.

Convention and Sports Facilities Department

The Convention and Sports Facilities Department proudly delivers excellent event experiences in premier facilities, including the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Alamodome and the Carver Community Cultural Center.


For nearly 35 years, San Antonio Sports has attracted premier sporting events to the Alamo City. As the city’s independent, nonprofit sports commission, San Antonio Sports has been an essential part of hosting three NCAA Men’s Final Fours and two Women’s Final Fours since 1998, along with numerous other NCAA championships.

It is San Antonio Sports’ mission to transform our community through the power of sport and our vision to have healthy kids, places to play and events that impact. A 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, San Antonio Sports’ kids programs annually touch the lives of more than 150,000 children in San Antonio through sports training and fitness programs, primarily in underserved neighborhoods. Additionally, San Antonio Sports serves as a catalyst for the development of quality recreational and athletic facilities in our community.


Attracting more than 32 million visitors a year, Visit San Antonio is the marketing arm of the City of San Antonio with a mission to promote, market and assist in developing San Antonio as a premier leisure visitor and convention/meeting destination for the purpose of positively affecting the City’s economy and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.

Nothing captivates the nation like March Madness and all eyes will be on the Alamo City as The Road to the Final Four ends in San Antonio March 31 and April 2. As the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee prepares to host the city’s fourth NCAA Men’s Final Four, success would not be possible without the support of local contributors.
